Free Pookie cat crochet pattern
Here is another adorable pattern that can be crocheted in a very short time.
EAR
R1: MR4
R2: ( sc, inc ) x 2 [6]
R3: ( 2sc, inc ) x 2 [8]
R4: sc 8 [8]
Cut the yarn and weave the ends into the inside of the ears.
repeat R1-R4 to make the second ear.
TAIL
R1: MR 5
R2-R9: 5 sc [5]
Close the tail with 2 sc ( to make a flat end), and leave a tail for sewing. Hide tail ends if you will be using glue to stick the tail on.
Sew 3 black stripes onto the outer part of the tail using a black yarn (as shown in the image).
HEAD-BODY
R1: MR8
Now round 2 is tricky, please follow the instructions carefully. Do not take out your hook from the last continuing yarn of R1 and continue as follows.
R2:
Insert the hook from the inside of the first ear, and then into the first stitch of the MR. Pull your yarn through both the MR & the ear and make a single crochet.
Repeat the same one more time in the next stitch.
Then 2 SC in just the magic ring.
Now, in the next 2 stitches, connect the second ear, as you did with the first.
Then 2 SC in just the magic ring.
You will have now all the 8 stitches of the MR in use. 2(ear 1), 2(plain sc), 2 (ear 2) & 2(plain sc)
NOTE: Ignore the stitches we used to connect the ears, we will only be working in the unworked stitches now.
R3: (inc x6) around the first ear, 2 sc in the MR, (inc x 6 ) around the second ear, 2sc in the MR [28]
R4: (13 sc, inc) x2 [30]
R5: 30 sc [30]
R6: ( 4 sc, inc ) x 6 [36]
R7- R9: 36 sc [36] 3-rows
R10: ( 5sc, inc ) x 6 [42]
R11- R13: 42 sc [42]
R14: (5sc, dec) x 6 [36]
Now, place safety eyes between rows 4-5, 6 stitches apart.
Stuff the ears and a little bit of the body, to ensure the right shaping.
In the next round, we will make the legs of the cat using a bobble stitch (bbl). You may need to adjust the placement of the bbl to ensure that both the legs are placed exactly between the eyes in the front.
R15: 14sc, bbl, sc, bbl, 19 sc [36]
R16: (4sc, dec) x 6 [30]
R17: (3sc, dec) x 6 [24]
R18: (1sc, dec) x 8 [16]
Finish stuffing the remainder of the body with polyfill.
R19: (dec x 8) [8]
Cut off the yarn and use a tapestry needle to sew the hole close.
Now take black yarn and embroider the details as shown in the pictures.
Sew the whiskers on row 5 and row 6, on both sides of the eyes. Make a T shaped nose in between the eyes and embroider the stripes on to the head.
Now sew the tail at the back on row 13-14 with black stripes facing out. Make sure the tail remains on one side of the body (as shown in the image).
